An IT worker has bagged a massive People’s Postcode Lottery win – after landing tens of thousands of pounds in another competition.

Stunned Grant Bowyer, 32, pocketed £133,332 in Postcode Lottery’s Millionaire Street prize – then revealed he had banked £50,000 in an online raffle in January 2021.

Grant, of Reading, said: “I’m shocked. I said to everyone to expect the lowest amount and anything else would be a bonus.

“A couple of years ago I did win another competition. I bought some tickets and told my sister that I was feeling lucky and was going to win. Later that night I went running down the stairs to tell everyone that I had won.”

Grant, and his dad Paul, 56, won the Postcode Lottery together – despite neither of them knowing the other one played.

They only found out they were both in the money after they each got a call at the home they share.

Paul first revealed his whopping £66,666 cheque. Then Grant thought he would win the same as his dad – but was left speechless when he bagged £133,332, because he forgot he played with two tickets.

Grant said: “Neither of us knew that the other played until we got the phone call. I’d forgotten that I had two tickets. I expected to get the same as my dad.”

He added: “Dad was similar to me, that whatever it was would be great. But to see that kind of money!”

Dad-of-four Paul said: “I didn’t even know my son played the Postcode Lottery.”

The pair shared the £1 million jackpot with nine neighbours in Reading after RG2 8SD landed Postcode Lottery’s weekly Millionaire Street prize on Saturday, December 2.

Every ticket was worth £66,666, but four neighbours – including Grant – doubled their cash with two.

Incredibly, Paul and Grant signed up separately after Paul’s mum won £2,771 on the Postcode Lottery’s ‘Monthly Millions’ prize three years ago.

Maureen Bowyer, 76 – who lives nearby – was one of 697 people in postcode sector RG2 8 to share £3 million in May 2020.

At the time, two other locals each scooped £199,727 in the full winning postcode of RG2 8NZ, while a third doubled their prize to £399,454 with two tickets.

After Grant’s previous win he bought a gaming PC with his winnings – and treated the family to kebabs!

He joked: “This time I might treat them to a Chinese.”

Now he is aiming to finally leave the family home and move in with his receptionist girlfriend.

He said: “I had a conversation with my nan after she won three years ago and I started playing after that.

“I want to buy a house with my girlfriend and maybe get a nice holiday somewhere next year.”

He added: “I’m chuffed for my dad. He never has any luck with anything. It’s great for him to get this win.

“He and my mum can go on holiday now by themselves and enjoy it more.”

Grandad-of-three Paul fancies a holiday with wife Georgina, 51, to help her further recover from a devastating stroke two years ago – as well as investing in a classic car.

The mechanic – who gave up work to care for his wife – said: “I started doing the Postcode Lottery straight away after my mum won.

“The first thing is, we’ll go on holiday. But there is one car that I want to get again – a Ford Granada. I’ve got three of them already. It’s one more to add.”
