Harborough Town boss Mitch Austin said that Reading FC manager Ruben Selles has been a ‘ledge from start to finish’ following Sunday’s thrilling FA Cup tie.
Austin’s side gave Reading a scare as the non-league outfit led 2-1 at the break before a late equaliser to make it 3-3 from the visitors forced the game into extra-time.
Chem Campbell’s quick double ensured Reading weren’t on the end of a shock cup exit.
Harborough manager Austin said: “I wish them well. I think their manager has been a ledge from start to finish.
“For a little non-league side, he’s come in and had a chat with us after. I’m going to try and tap him up for some loan players now,” said the Bees boss speaking to BBC Radio Leicestershire after the game.
“I want Rube’s number, I want anyone who can loan me some little whippets and some good kids and I can nurture them with these old school non-league boys to try and take the club to another level.”
The 7th tier side did themselves proud in front of their travelling support of almost 3,000 fans who attended the cup tie at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Austin continued: I’m proud of the whole day. I’m proud of the Sandro effect. I think he was class in the first-half and he came in at half-time and said ‘gaffer I can’t do anymore.’
“In the second-half we’ve got a lead against a League One club and we’ve come out, had a bit of adversity and when we scored in the 86th minute, we were great in the back end.
“Do we have any regrets? No. Have we got loads of memories? Yeah, it will take a lot to top that.”
