A LAW firm with offices in Wokingham says it is delighted to acquire a respected law firm that will see it expand its business.

Bonnetts Solicitors, based in Ascot and Whitton, was established in 1929, and is now part of Herrington Carmichael Solicitors.

The company said that the acquisition strengthens its ambitions of becoming a top 100 UK law firm, while continuing its long-standing commitment to the region.

And Bonnetts will boost its commercial property and property development team, as well as expanding its residential property and private client services.

Liz Hailey, Steve Wareham and Graeme Black shall be joining as Partners.

Herrington Carmichael says that it has seen excellent year-on-year organic growth, with turnover at £14.5 million. The move to acquire Bonnetts will see combined turnover reach £18 million.

Ms Hailey said: “It’s a very exciting time. Herrington Carmichael is already an impressive full-service law firm, featuring an award-winning property team and, from the outset, it was clear our practices were similarly aligned.

“We wanted to find a firm who had exciting plans for the future and we are thrilled to join forces.

“This deal will not only give our clients access to a wider range of services that will pave the way for a continued record of success but will also create further opportunities for growth and development for the ultimate benefit of our clients and staff.”

Herrington Carmichael will maintain its new headquarters in Camberley with further offices in Ascot, Wokingham and London. The move adds a further 18 employees to teams, taking total employee numbers to over 160.

The investment by the senior team at Herrington Carmichael in recent years has resulted in the firm growing its specialist lawyers within its existing teams.

Specialisms have grown across intellectual property, data, IT and technology, banking & finance and corporate governance, together with a new immigration team.

Yavan Brar, managing partner and head of corporate and commercial at Herrington Carmichael, said: “We believe that Bonnetts is an excellent addition to Herrington Carmichael. It further extends the specialisms we are able to offer to our clients as we continue to build upon our strong platform for continued growth.”
