Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II, has died aged 96.

A statement from Buckingham Palace on Thursday, September 8, said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

She was the longest serving monarch in British history, marking her 70th anniversary on the throne with Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June this year.

On Thursday, September 8, Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen’s doctors became concerned for her health and she was kept under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Following the statement, Prince Charles, Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince William, Prince Harry and Meghan made their way to Balmoral to be by the Queen’s side.
