THE price of a litre of unleaded petrol continues to come down, as the cost of a barrel of oil also reduces.
While some stations are still asking more than £1.50 for a litre, others have made cuts that will be welcomed by motorists hit by rising prices elsewhere.
Online price comparison site PetrolPrices.com checks the cost of fuel and regularly sends out updates to its registered users.
Currently, the cheapest place to fill up is the Costco garage in Green Park.
This is only open to members of Costco, and that is restricted to trade, or certain professions.
However, those who have a membership card can pay just 137.9p for unleaded.
For those without a Costco membership, it’s another supermarket that is the cheapest.
Asda in School Road, Tilehurst is 144p per litre.
A price of 145.9p per litre is cited for Tesco Reading West on Portman Road, the BP on Bath Road in Calcot, and the Sainsbury’s Savacentre, also on the Bath Road.
The Lower Earley branch of Asda was reported as 147.7p, while the BP at Shepherd’s Hill was 151.9p.
The prices were for January 8, 2023, and could change.
