Reading Football Club has confirmed their first transfer activity of the January window with the extension of Chem Campbell on loan until the end of the season.
Reading are still under a transfer embargo which limits them to only signing free agents and loan players, all of which have to be approved by the English Football League (EFL).
Campbell was signed on a short-term loan deal in the summer from Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His deal expired on January 5, however the Royals have now been granted permission to extend his deal until the end of the season.
Campbell has become a vital part of Reading’s squad this season and so far has contributed five goals and four assists in 22 games.
Manager Noel Hunt said: “”We’re delighted to secure Chem’s signature until the end of the campaign. He has really grown into the season and has become an important part of our team.
“He’s a great kid first and foremost, and he wants to learn, he wants to work, and he wants to improve.
“They’re the kind of people you want in this football club, the type of people who want to improve not just themself, but improve the team too.
“We’re absolutely delighted, and we’re sure there were a few takers for him, and it shows the strength we have inside the building and the characters we have that he wanted to come back here and play for us.”
