A former Reading FC winger has been nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Season award after an impressive campaign in the second tier of English football.
Femi Azeez, who made nearly 100 appearances for Reading before leaving the club, has been recognised for his performances with Millwall this season.
The 24‑year‑old winger was a key figure in Millwall’s push up the Championship table, contributing goals and assists and catching the eye of pundits and supporters alike.
Azeez came through Reading’s youth system and went on to become a favourite among Royals fans before sealing a permanent move to Millwall in a reported £1m deal.
His form this season has earned him a place on the shortlist for the division’s top individual accolade, putting him alongside other standout performers from across the Championship.
Supporters in Reading will be watching the award ceremony with interest, celebrating one of their own being recognised at a national level after progressing from the Royals to success in the higher tier.
The EFL Championship Player of the Season award will be decided later this month, with winners announced at the annual EFL awards ceremony.
