Former Reading FC defender Omar Richards has been linked with a return to England with Nottingham Forest after one season with Bayern Munich.

According to reports from Sky Sports Germany, Bayern Munich would be willing to sell Richards this summer amid links with newly promoted Forest.

Richards left the Royals in 2021 to join the German champions on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old made his breakthrough in Berkshire in the 2017/18 season where he played 13 times and netted two league goals.

The left-back played 10 times in 2018/19, 28 times in 2019/20 and made 41 Championship appearances in the 2020/21 season as the Royals narrowly missed out on qualifying for the play-offs under Veljko Paunovic.

In his debut season in Germany, Richards made 17 appearances in all competitions, 12 of which came in the Bundesliga as Bayern strolled to their 10th consecutive league title.

He totalled 405 minutes on the pitch in the league for Bayern and has now been linked with a move back to England.

Forest were promoted to the Premier League for the first time since 1998/99 as Steve Cooper’s side defeated Huddersfield Town in the play-offs final.
