Former Reading FC favourite Nelson Abbey has been recalled by his parent club Olympiacos after a disappointing loan spell with Swansea City.
The centre-back burst onto the scene with the Royals and quickly became a fans favourite, showing immense quality and leadership. He made a total of 31 first-team games for the club before departing.
Having impressed several clubs around Europe, Abbey made the move to Greek side Olympiacos last summer and made a total of four first-team appearances.
Abbey returned to the English Football League in the summer transfer window, making the move to Swansea on a season-long loan.
However, the deal has not worked out as Abbey has made just one appearance for the Swans, which was in the EFL Cup.
Despite many being keen to bring Abbey back to Reading on a loan deal, there are complications due to the club’s ongoing financial issues.
