IT’S A Mini adventure, and hopefully no doors will be blown off along the way.

The Italian Job Mile of Minis fundraising event is returning this spring, once again taking inspiration from the famous Michael Caine movie (it’s best not to talk about the remake).

It has one aim: to help raise money to alleviate child poverty.

This is the third year of the family-friendly event, and is open to owners of both classic and modern MINI owners.

On the day, more than 150 Minis are expected to gather at the MINI Plant in Cowley, Oxford before embarking on a driving adventure off the beaten track across Oxfordshire and into South Warwickshire. Participants will receive a special Italian Job route book, ensuring no chance of getting lost.

Organisers hope each team will raise at least £50 for Buttle UK, which helps families with the cost-of-living crisis by providing financial assistance, and life-changing grants for basic items like children’s beds and household appliances, as well as supporting educational needs such as school uniforms, computers, and books.

The day will include a visit to JLR Classic, the award-winning classic and works division of Jaguar Land Rover, home to some of the world’s finest and rarest examples of these cars. Located south of Coventry, this facility preserves and maintains the spirit, legend, and mystery of classic Jaguars and Land Rovers, featuring a range of original and highly collectable vehicles.

Joseph Howes, CEO of Buttle UK, said: “Across Buttle UK’s grant giving, application rates have been 60% higher than pre-pandemic levels. With soaring prices, the impact of food and fuel poverty is alarming.

“The cyclical nature of financial difficulties and their effect on children’s mental health and educational outcomes will only worsen as this ongoing crisis persists.

“Families need our help more than ever before – so come join us on this fantastic day out, make new friends, share mini-stories, and help us give children in the region a better chance at life.”

Giulia St George, co-founder, and organiser of The Italian Job events, said: “For anyone taking part this year I can guarantee lots of fun, smiles, noise, colour, and spectacle”.

The Mile of Mini takes place on Sunday, April 28. Registration costs £28 per car, which covers admission for two people per car and a ‘Jobbers’ Road Book for the day, sticker, and badge.
