A SOUTH Reading charity is helping residents stock up on fresh and healthy food, while also reducing food waste.

The Whitley Community Development Association’s food surplus programme allows users to pick up a bagful of items donated by supermarkets across the borough.

Service users do not need a referral, and the organisation encourages people to stop for a chat in the adjoined community cafe.

The food tables are available between 10am-1pm from Monday-Friday at the Whitley Community Centre, Northumberland Avenue.
