Finchampstead FC got their title challenge back on track with a victory over Reading City U23’s in the Thames Valley Premier League.

Having suffered a damaging 4-1 defeat at Yateley United in their previous match, the Finches ensured that they go to winning ways on Wednesday evening as they took on the Cityzens at Wokingham & Emmbrook’s home ground, Lowther Road.

Finch hit three past Reading without reply with goals from Callum Valance, Alex Woodhead and Joel Day.

The title race in the TVPL is set up for a thrilling finish and looks as if it will go right down to the wire as current champions Finch battle against Burghfield to be crowned league champions.

Finch are currently in second on 50 points, with four more league matches to play.

Meanwhile, Burghfield lead the way in the division on 54 points and have three games left.

This weekend sees a mouthwatering tie in the division as the top two go head-to-head on Saturday in a match that is likely to have a big impact in which way the title will go.
