An expanding childcare business has opened its newest nursery in a business park near Reading.
Chalkhouse Childcare Services was founded by Lucy McAdden, a fully qualified paediatric nurse in 2011.
It has an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating and a 2-year waiting list.
Situated in a beautiful, countryside location in Kidmore End, the company is dedicated to providing a stimulating and fun learning environment with the emphasis on active, outside learning and making good progress in a homely space.
It then expanded to open Chalkhouse Earley in 2023, taking over the Elm Lane Montessori day school and nursery that closed in 2022.
The success and popularity of the Earley setting persuaded Lucy that another location was needed to accommodate all the families in the area, with her feeling that Thames Valley Park ‘perfectly encapsulated the ethos and values of Chalkhouse’.
According to a representative, the main attraction of the location is the ‘incredible’ outside spaces – it has a huge, enclosed garden area and is situated right next to a beautiful nature reserve, making it perfect for a ‘Forest School’ to provide outdoor learning opportunities.
Chalkhouse Nursery Waterside at Thames Valley Park in Earley, opposite the David Lloyd leisure complex, officially opened last month.
The childcare company has been seeking to expand for years.
There were plans to open a nursery on the site of the Reading Abbey Rugby Club off Peppard Road, however, this project was ultimately shelved.
