Ex-Reading FC manager Paul Ince has been charged with drink driving after he crashed his car into a central reservation in Cheshire on Saturday.
The former Royals boss, 57, was arrested after he crashed his Range Rover and was then subsequently charged with drink driving and bailed.
The former England captain will now appear at Chester Magistrates on Friday.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: “At around 5pm on Saturday, June 28, police were called following reports of a collision on Chester High Road, Neston.
“Paul Ince, of Neston, has since been charged with drink driving. Ince has been bailed to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 18 July.”
Ince first took over as manager at Reading in February 2022 on an interim basis and helped to steer the club to Championship survival.
He then took over on a permanent basis in May 2022, but was sacked towards the end of the season after a run of eight winless games left the Royals on the brink of relegation.
Noel Hunt replaced Ince for the final chapter of the season, but could not help them to survive as the club were relegated to the third division of English football for the first time in more than two decades.
Ince has not returned to football management since being sacked in April 2023.
