AN AWARD-WINNING theatre company is bringing a hit fringe show to Reading as part of a UK tour next month.
Dogmouth Theatre has announced that its celebrated stage show Sl*ts with Consoles is going on tour this summer for the first time.
It comes after a grant from Arts Council England, and means that the writers and performers will be bringing the show to the stage in their home town for the first time.
The show explores women’s experiences with gaming and within the gaming industry through an interactive, form-breaking buddy-comedy.
It was created for VAULT Festival in 2023 by writer and producer Alice Flynn, who also stars alongside Mia Harvey, and is directed by Rachel Isobel Heritage.
It was shortlisted for the UNTAPPED Award and nominated for the VAULT Festival Spirit Award that same year.
Last year it also garnered the Brighton Fringe LGBTQ+ Sta Bursary and the Brighton Fringe Gemini Print award.
Following the show in Reading, it will go to Underbelly at Edinburgh Fringe, and then on tour around the UK.
Dogmouth is a Reading-based theatre company which specialises in amplifying women’s voices, founded in 2019 by playwright and theatremaker Alice Flynn.
It is led by neurodivergent, LGBTQ+ artists and their goal in founding the company was to provide a space for Queer women and people of marginalised genders–particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds–to experiment, learn, develop, take risks and grow their practice.
It was set up following a grant from Farnahm Maltings’ No Strings Attached scheme, since which it has spawned plays, fringe shows, and the ‘Howling @ The Moon’ cabaret.
Sl*ts with Consoles comes to the Rising Sun Arts Centre on Wednesday, July 23.
