READING Indian Community came together on Saturday, November 11, for a fun-filled Diwali celebration.
Hundreds of visitors marked the symbolic victory of light over darkness at Theale Green School for Art Celebration’s Diwali and Dussehra festival, which featured cultural performances, live music, food stalls, fair rides and shopping.
Children put on a stirring Ramayana play to tell the story of Diwali, while other highlights of the day were the Ravan Dehan, which involves the burning of an effigy of demon king Ravana, and fireworks.
Aradhana Singh, lead organiser, said: “We are thrilled to have brought the community together for this unforgettable Diwali celebration. The enthusiasm and participation from everyone made it a truly special event, reinforcing the spirit of unity and cultural diversity that Diwali represents.”
The event also housed a Kids’ Corner, where youngsters could get hands-on with interactive activities related to the festival, games, face painting and much more.
