NOT many people know that Reading is the home of photography, but there is an opportunity to find out more about its role in the process at a special event taking place early next month.
The team from Walk Reading are organising a walk around the town, starting outside the Abbey Medical Centre in Russell Street, on Saturday, September 2.
Starting at 10am, the hour-long event will take in the origins of photography including the camera obscura, explore how William Henry Fox Talbot developed this process, and talk about the role that Nicholaas Henneman played.
There will also be visits to some of the places featured in the early photographs, and to learn about the Pencil of Nature, and its place in the history of photography.
Tickets cost £9, and places should be reserved.
