THE CROFTON pumping station is the topic for this month’s meeting of the Berkshire Industrial Archaeology Group.
Members will gather at St Mary’s Church, Castle Street to hear a talk by Jon Willis about the Mechatronics and the beam engines used at the site.
Modern technology is being used to monitor the 200-year-old engines.
Few people know more about the project than Mr Willis: he is Crofton’s chairman and has volunteered at the site for two decades.
The talk takes place on Monday, January 29, from 7.30pm. Entry is £2.50 for non-members, and includes refreshments.
