Sixteen cricket teams from Reading area battled to win a six a side tournament at Hurst Cricket Club on Sunday.
Tilehurst Cricket Club beat the Reading Warriors team in the final. Hurst was knocked out in the quarter finals.
It was a full day event – which started at 8am and finished at around 7pm.
Speaking at the ground, Suneet Basra from Hurst Cricket Club said: “It’s been a very good day, everybody enjoyed it. The weather really helped us out, it was a beautiful day for cricket.”
It was the first time the tournament had been held at Hurst. He described the soft ball event as having a ‘more leisure cricket’ format.
It included using a ball harder than a tennis ball but softer than that usually used in cricket. This meant the players didn’t need to wear helmets, pads, gloves and other protections worn in traditional games.
There were six overs in each side’s innings and the boundary line was closer than usual.
