Crates of groceries have been donated to a Reading food bank serving the needy and those suffering from food poverty in the town.
ReadiFood helps those who are struggling by distributing emergency food parcels to the most vulnerable individuals and families.
A collection for the food bank recently took place at the busy Co-op in Erleigh Road, East Reading.
The gathering of the groceries was assisted by Matt Rodda, the Labour MP for Reading Central, and councillor Will Cross (Labour, Redlands).
Mr Rodda said: “I would like to thank everyone who donated to the food bank collection at the Co-op. People were very generous and wanted to do their bit to help others.
“I would also like to thank the organisers who put in a lot of time making arrangements with the Co-op and Readifood, handing out leaflets explaining what items were needed and packing crates.”
The food collection took place on Saturday, February 1.
ReadiFood is managed by the Faith Christian Group, an ecumenical organisation made up of volunteers from evangelical, Church of England and Catholic churches in the town.
Clients of the food bank are assisted through referral, to ensure deliveries are made to those most in need.

ReadiFood is an independent food bank affiliated with the Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN) and works in partnership with Reading Borough Council.
Food was also collected for the New Beginnings homelessness charity based at the old Queens Arms in Great Knollys Street.
