READING Borough Council has launched a new campaign encouraging residents to embrace new experiences and make positive contributions through small acts and changes.
The Just One Thing initiative seeks to shift focus away from New Year’s resolutions and help those taking part form lasting habits which positively impact them and the community.
It features 25 tips for 2025, including simple and achievable ideas regarding health, culture, and the environment, with one released every day until January 31.
It also seeks to promote local leisure and cultural spots as well as encourage physical activity and the use of more environmentally-friendly transport options.
Among the tips provided are taking part in donating plasma, with Reading being home to one of only three plasma donation centres in the UK.
It also includes visiting some of Reading’s cultural venues, including Reading Museum, which hosts a work by Pablo Picasso.
Participants are encouraged to learn a few words in the most-spoken languages aside from English in the town: Polish, Nepalese, and Romanian.
They can also take part in local charitable causes, such as offering time to help young people in foster care, or visiting Reading Voluntary Action to see a list of local charity causes which would benefit from volunteering.
