A swanky restaurant and bar chain is nearly ready to open its first branch in Reading town centre this Spring.
The Cosy Club is a collection of diners in England and Wales inviting guests to relax, eat and drink ‘with a touch of timeless grandeur’.
The company will be opening its branch in Reading at Unit L30 of The Oracle, which was previously occupied by the Lakeland kitchenware store and the Artisans Handmade gift shop.
The latest news is that changes to the frontage have been approved by Reading Borough Council ready for Cosy Club to take over.
It will have a wooden board shop front design, with glass block walling finished in pink. The brand will have ruby red lettering, with a menu board outside to give guests an idea of what to expect.
Assessing the designs, planning officer Mishga Marshall wrote: “The proposed new fascia signage and projecting sign is not considered to be obtrusive in terms of material and colour.
“Whilst of a more prominent colour scheme than previous Lakeland scheme, it would ‘liven up’ the Minster Street elevation in particular.
“The fascia signage would sit comfortably and would not appear disproportionate or incongruous.
“There is a mix of signage within the area, and it is not considered to be so out of keeping to significantly harm the character of the street scene.”
You can view the applications, both approved on March 28, by typing references PL/24/1707 and PL/24/1719 into the council’s planning portal.
Cosy Club has approval to open until 1.30am Thursday to Saturday, and 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday.
Its website states the venue will open in May.
