The owner of a convenience store that took over a bank in Reading has applied to sell alcohol.
Cravings Land opened at the junction of Basingstoke Road and Buckland Road earlier this year, selling snacks, soft drinks and cooking ingredients to customers.
A post on Instagram by Halal food influencer hreatsssss shows Dubai Chocolate, Japanese Kit Kat flavours, Cheetos and Little Moons ice cream on sale at Cravings Land.
The store is currently open from 9am to 10pm each day, and is in a prominent location opposite the Morrisons supermarket in Whitley.
The building was previously occupied by Barclays Bank, which was closed for years.
The bank was last seen open in streetview imagery from July 2014. By September 2016, the ATM and all Barclays branding had been removed.
For any business to sell alcohol in the town, a premises licence is required from Reading Borough Council.
Balinder Singh Nangpal, who runs Cravings Land, has applied to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises from 8am to 11pm each day.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live.
You can take part by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for responses falls on Wednesday, June 25.
The building has undergone significant changes since Barclays closed its branch.
Development company SEP Properties won permission to replace the roof of the building with an extension to create four one-bed flats.
Streetview imagery shows that this work was completed by October 2020.
