A CONSULTATION is currently running into the standards and behaviour of councillors working on behalf of the fire brigade.

Views are being sought on the Code of Conduct that the 20 members of the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority (RBFA) adhere to.

The authority comprises members of the six councils in the Royal County, including Reading and Wokingham boroughs, and has a legal duty to ensure that an effective Fire and Rescue Service is provided across Berkshire by setting the strategic direction and approving the Fire Service’s Budget.

The code is based on the Nolan Principles for public office as well as the Fire Standard Code of Ethics.

The consultation closes at 9am on Wednesday, December 13, can be completed online. The fire authority says it should take five minutes to complete.

Printed copies and alternative formats can be made available on request, by calling: 0118 938 4611 or emailing: committeeteam@rbfrs.co.uk
