A CHILDREN’S home for those with complex learning difficulties has been given an ‘Outstanding’ rating following an inspection this month.
Pinecroft residential home in Whitley received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating in all three focal areas: overall experience and progress of children, help and protection, and leadership effectiveness.
This was Pinecroft’s first Ofsted inspection since children’s services was brought back in to Reading Borough Council in October last year.
It represents a consistent maintenance of standards at the home which has also previously been rated ‘Outstanding.’
Among the comments in the report were those remarking on the “exceptional progress” as a result of staff’s “thorough understanding of individual, sometimes complex, needs.”
The home was also praised for providing “enriching experiences,” consistent and attentive care, and an “exceptional” commitment to wellbeing.
Leadership were commended on their collaboration, as well as their work to create a sense of “safety and comfort.”
Cllr Wendy Griffith, Reading’s Lead Councillor for Children, said: “This is a fantastic result that recognises all the incredible work carried out every day at Pinecroft.
“I have seen first-hand how hard-working, compassionate and diligent the staff are, so it’s great to see them formally recognised.
“We are immensely proud of this report and the difference Pinecroft makes in the lives of so many children, young people and their families.”
