A GROUP of growers in Caversham were keen to show off their gardening skills and to compete for prizes at their spring show.
Caversham Horticultural Association (CHA) gave visitors to Caversham Baptist Church a chance to enjoy spring blooms and plants, and to dream of warmer weather to come.
Winners were awarded certificates for their talents, with lots of categories for keen entrants.
Mrs G Rowlands swept the boards, taking away a handful of certificates, winning best daffodils, best flower exhibitor, best domestic award, and best in show.
Best tulips was won by C Bates, while Mrs C Johnson also did very well with her tulip exhibits.
The group’s president Leslie Cooper, said: “We hadn’t done a show for a few years, so it was a bit of an experiment.
“But it went well, and we had quite a few people coming through the doors.
“Gardening is great, it gets you out in the fresh air, connecting with nature.
“A favourite bloom of mine is the delphinium.
“My dad used to grow them, and I grew to love them too.”
