LADIES what brunch have helped raise £7,000 for a charity that helps women get back into work.
Smart Works Reading, which works alongside unemployed women to support them as they regain their confidence and secure employment, held a Fashion Brunch fundraiser last month at Danesfield House Hotel.
Hosted by charity trustee Patsy Dhir, attendees enjoyed a catwalk show showcasing independent, female-founded UK brands, and had the opportunity to buy some of the items showcased. Proceeds went to Smart Works Reading.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters and the incredible success of our Fashion Brunch event,” said Helen Francis, chair of Smart Works Reading.
“The funds raised will have a profound impact on our ability to empower unemployed women in our community, providing them with the confidence, skills, and resources they need to secure meaningful employment.”
Since 2015, Smart Works Reading has supported nearly 2,500 women in their journey towards financial independence.
The organisation’s services have become increasingly crucial in light of the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic and the prevailing cost-of-living crisis.
“On behalf of Smart Works Reading, I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event, including our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and attendees,” added Ms Francis.
“Your support is invaluable in our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable workforce for women in our community.”
