GHOULS and ghosts will come out to play in Reading town centre this Hallowe’en as youngsters gear up for two festive events.
Throughout the October half-term, Broad Street Mall will have families searching high and low to complete a scarecrow trail and redeem a free pumpkin, while handmade bats and spiders will be added to the shopping centre’s seasonal spooky surroundings.
The town-wide pumpkin trail runs from October 21-29 and is free to take part in, with trail leaflets available to pick up at the mall, The Oracle customer service desk, Town Hall and Reading Central Library.
Those who successfully complete the map will be able to collect a pumpkin from Broad Street Mall’s patch on October 28 or 29.
Participants are encouraged to post pictures from various locations across the trail, using the hashtag #ReadingScarecrowTrail.
The mall will once again be supporting the annual One Great Day initiative with its arts and crafts session. Running from 11am-4pm on October 28, money raised from the event will go towards Great Ormond Street and local charity Dingley’s Promise. Visitors are asked to make a minimum donation of £3 to take part.
Put on by Broad Street Mall, Reading BID, One Great Day and Jelly, the activities are set to add a little fear and fun to the town’s little horrors’ half-terms.
