Reading’s run of 11 games undefeated came to an end as they were dealt defeat at Blackpool.

Reading’s hopes of a top six finish are still intact, however they drop out the play-off places for now after Bolton snatched a late win at Wigan which saw them overtake the Royals.

The result leaves Reading a point off the play-offs in 7th place with seven games left to go.

Star defender Tyler Bindon remained out of action which meant that Reading lined up with the same experienced back four who helped the Royals to a 3-1 win over Peterborough on Saturday.

The first-half ended goalless after a cagey affair that saw the game stopped several times for injuries to various players.

However, the second-half was a different tale as a strong two-minute spell for the hosts saw them take the game away from Reading.

Sonny Carey put Blackpool in front when he fired the ball into the far post from a tight angle and just two minutes later Oliver Casey doubled their money to make it 2-0.

Noel Hunt responded to that with a quadruple change which saw Ander Garcia, Mamadi Camara, Tom Carroll and Louie Holzman all enter the action.

But Reading were unable to claw anything back from the game and tasted defeat for the first time in 11 matches as Blackpool added another goal in stoppage time to make it 3-0.

Reading’s next game sees them host promotion pushing Wycombe Wanderers at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday.
