A SIGHT loss charity in Berkshire is hosting a unique fundraiser in partnership with a local brewery this weekend.
Berkshire Vision is teaming up with Siren Craft Brewery to hold a blindfolded beer tasting event at the brewery’s Reading taproom.
Guests will be invited to sample four of Siren’s flagship craft beers, guided by the brewery team who will share tasting notes and behind-the-scenes stories about the beers.
With sight removed, however, attendees will have to focus on their remaining senses to experience the offerings in a way which echoes how those supported by Berkshire Vision navigate life.
Guests will also be offered snacks and the opportunity to win some beer to take home in the raffle.
The event will raise funds for the charity, which provides a range of services to those with sight loss in the county, including practical support and resources, social activities and services such as telephone befriending, peer support, and employability training.
It has an organisational history spanning more than a century, with its origins stretching back to 1910, when it was established as the Berkshire County Blind Society.
Laura Mitchel, CEO at Berkshire Vision, said: “This is such a fun way to explore beer differently while helping to raise vital funds and awareness.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Siren Brewery for what promises to be a fantastic night on fundraising.”
The Berkshire Vision Blinfolded Beer Tasting takes place at the Siren Craft Brewery Taproom in Reading on Thursday, November 13.
