THE ORGANISERS of Berkshire Motor Show have released a statement after the event was rained off last weekend.

Inclement weather meant that Prospect Park, where it was due to be held, was waterlogged, with heavy rain continuing through Sunday, July 7.

Organiser Steph Awbery explained it had been called off: “Due to the weather conditions, the amount of traffic on the parkland, and the damage it would have caused throughout the day, as well as the health and safety of my marshals, parking attendants, and the public.

“Sunday was very wet so we managed to save Prospect Park from being churned up with the volume of traffic that would have been in and out.”

She extended her thanks to patrons and staff: “Thank you to all for your understanding on why I had to cancel the event, and I am so sorry for letting you all down.

“But this is the joy of having events in the open– we have no control over the weather or mother nature.

“At this point I can not say if the event can go ahead this year, as their are many factors to consider, but we shall be back next year, bigger than ever.

“And hopefully we’ll get some summer soon.”
