Wokingham Town suffered two uncharacteristic back-to-back home defeats – crashing out of the FA Vase on penalties on Saturday, before a disappointing 3-6 defeat against Virginia Water in the Combined Counties League Premier North.
Ty Moorcroft levelled for the Sumas in the 10th minute of added time against Cinderford Town to send the tie to penalties, before a 4-5 defeat from spot kicks against the Gloucestershire side.
On Tuesday night against previously bottom-of-the-table Virginia Water, goals from Sam Lynskey, Moorcroft and Joao Jardim weren’t enough to save their blushes.
Reading City enjoyed a 4-3 penalty victory in the FA Vase over Mendip Broadwalk after the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
Three second half goals saw Woodley United record a 0-3 victory on Tuesday night over Coolliers Wood United.
In the Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round, Ashridge Park Ladies booked their place in the next round – and earned £3,000 in prize money at the same time, with a 2-3 victory on the road at Kidlington Youth.
The Wokingham-based side will now travel to Dulwich to face South London Women in the next round.
In the same competition, a spirited performance from Finchampstead Ladies wasn’t enough to avoid a 1-3 defeat at home to Penn & Tylers Green.
Woodley United Ladies also exited the competition with an 8-1 defeat at Harpenden, while Reading Ladies progressed thanks to a 0-5 win at Manorcroft United. They’ll face Brentford at home in the next round.
