A TOP comedian is preparing to come to neighbouring Newbury this summer for a benefit gig in aid of The Corn Exchange.
Al Murray, best known as The Pub Landlord, will be teaming up with Fringe comedian Ania Magliano to help raise funds for the arts venue’s plans to open The Old Library later this year.
In all, £2.6 million is needed to make the vision a reality. Although £1 million is coming from the Greenham Trust, the rest needs to be raised. Support has come from Backstage Trust, Foyle Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation and Syder Foundation.
Once complete, the venue will allow the arts centre to do more community events.
The night with Al will take place on Tuesday, June 25, with all proceeds going to the appeal.
VIP tickets will include seats in the first two rows of the stalls and the front row of the balcony, plus a glass of prosecco or a non-alcoholic drink.
Tickets cost from £31.25 to £36.25.
