A NEW play based on the work of a Reading author is seeking home-grown acting talent as the production gets underway.
The play will see an adaptation of Derek Walsh’s book Oxford Road, which follows Alastair McLeish-Pidkin as he arrives in Reading.
Leaving a failed marriage behind him, Alastair begins an odyssey through the identity of the town through the experiences of its residents.
It is being adapted by Reading’s own Brian Ennion alongside director Naomi di Cillo, who said: “I saw real potential in the play and the concept.
“I came across it completely by accident, and I was originally set to audition for the show myself, but have become part of building it from the ground up without really intending to.”
She explained: “We are looking for people who are drawn to the play and who have a passion for the production.
“We’re seeking audition tapes with a view to taking part in in-person auditions and workshops from actors who have trained and have some experience.”
The production is seeking performers for speaking roles including coach Richard, The Boyfriend, and Daniel’s partner.
They are also seeking actors for non-speaking roles including Christian Preacher, Child Patience, Patience’s friend, Teenage Patience, Adult Patience, Patience’s partner, and Melville and Verity Johnson.
Audition tapes should be sent to: naomivox242@gmail.com
