A BERKSHIRE group of artists is celebrating the launch of its new trail marking the festive period across Reading and Wokingham.
Acorn Open Studios is throwing open the doors to the studios of nine artists for its new Winter’s Trail, giving the public a glimpse into their creative spaces and methods.
Artists will be displaying pieces of different mediums, including watercolours by Liz Chaderton and Kusum Shabong and paintings by Sayani Drury, Elizabeth Baldin, and Calina Lefter.
Liz Chaderton said of the trail: “Entering the artist’s studio is like going behind the curtain in Wizard of Oz. Instead of finding a charlatan you find genuine magic, where small ideas and inspiration turn into finished paintings.
“By visiting a studio, visitors will understand more of the motivation and emotion behind a finished piece, and also know more about the techniques and materials used.”
Kusum Shabong said: “Each studio visit offers a unique experience, with artists sharing their stories, inspirations, and creative journey.
Open studios provide an unparalleled opportunity to engage with art in an intimate and personal way, revealing the diversity and individuality of each artist’s practice.
“Unlike traditional exhibitions, where art is presented in a formal and often impersonal setting, open studios allow you to step into the artist’s own creative space.
“Here, you can see the full process from rough sketches and experiments to finished pieces.”
Studios in Shinfield, Earley, Lower Earley, Hurst, Spencers Wood, Charvil, and Woodley will be open from 10.30am-4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, November 16-17.
