A READING restaurant is heading to Mexico for its seasonal special this month.

Honest Burgers’ September collaboration is with chilli-lime seasoning brand TAJÍN for a memorable culinary experience.

Established in 1985, TAJÍN is a Mexican chilli-lime seasoning used in everything from fresh fruit to margarita rims. Pronounced tah-heen, it has built a cult following on the UK street food scene.

This new partnership aims to bring to life vibrant colours and culinary richness of one of the world’s best-loved cuisines, and there’s not a taco in sight.

The Mexico Burger features Honest beef burger fused with an avocado sour cream mayo spiked with tangy TAJÍN flavour and chipotle sauce for extra smoky depth.

The burger is topped with bacon and Monterey Jack cheese, and served with TAJÍN spiced Mexican shoestring fries, lettuce and pickles.

Adam Layton, Honest Burgers head of food, said: “TAJÍN is still relatively undiscovered in the UK but in Mexico, and much of the States, it’s an everyday essential. It’s a Mexican chilli-lime seasoning that livens up almost anything.

“Every Mexican street food cart will have a big bottle of the stuff to add a punch to fresh fruit, micheladas and crisps.

“It’s very addictive on shoestring fries and will no doubt be a surefire hit with our diners throughout September.”

The collaboration is exciting Eduardo Gomez from Mexgrocer Tajin importers.

“Honest Burgers is a brand we really respect as they have grown and maintained quality throughout the years,” he said.

“We think it is a great partnership and the mayo with TAJÍN is absolutely delicious – we can’t wait for you all to try it.”

It is £14.50 from its Reading branch on the corner of Kings Road with High Street but only until Monday, October 2. It can also be ordered via Uber Eats or Click and Collect for £1 more.
