READING is to welcome its annual celebration of vegan food this weekend.

Reading Vegan Fiesta is returning for its fourth outing, bringing plant-based food, homeware, and gifts, to the town centre.

More than forty stalls offering street food, deli, baked goods, homeware and artisan gifts will be set up, as well as live performances and workshops.

British wildlife protection and conservation organisation International Animal Rescue is also to host a charity raffle.

It celebrates and promotes veganism, which avoids animal foods such as meat and dairy, as well as animal-derived products like leather and products tested on animals, as far as possible.

The event is organised by Sparkle Vegan Events, a Berkshire-based event planners.

Sarah Zeneli, from Sparkle Vegan Events, says: “We always have an amazing time at Reading Vegan Fiesta, with visitors travelling from local towns and from further away.

“It is a fantastic community event to raise awareness about veganism and to showcase it as the fun, friendly and cruelty-free lifestyle that it is.

“There will be delicious food, ethical products, sustainable gifts and charity stands; as well as free workshops, live music and children’s activities.

“Forbury Gardens is a beautiful venue for the fiesta with its grassed areas for picnics and town centre location.

“This is an event not to be missed.”

Reading Vegan Fiesta returns to Forbury Gardens from 11am-4pm on Saturday, April 26.

Entry is free.
