A ROAD in Caversham was flooded following heavy rain last week.
Reader Hilary Jane Smart shared a video of vehicles passing through Caversham Park Road on Monday, November 13, following a weekend of torrential downpours.
Reading Borough Council closed the road so remedial works could take place. It was one of a number of places across the borough that saw roads partially submerged, including problems at Whitley Street roundabout and the Kings Road bus lane outside Wycliffe Baptist Church in Cemetery Junction.
A spokesperson for the council said: “The Council is aware of this localised flooding incident and has attended the site to investigate and clear the highway gullies and connections.
“We have asked Thames Water to inspect and clear their main surface water sewers that our gullies connect into, and are confident that this combined effort will resolve this issue.
“In the meantime, the decision has been taken to temporarily close the road as a safety measure.”
