On Saturday, Waterstones in Broad Street welcomed Robin Stevens, who has created The Ministry of Unladylike Activity series, and a large queue built up as fans flocked to meet her and get signed copies of the latest book, The Body In The Blitz.
And joining the queue was one customer who only found about the signing when queuing at the till to pay for their copy.

A spokesperson from the store told Reading Today: “Graham who was on the till, had his best event moment ever, as a child and parent buying a Robin Stevens book asked who the queue was for and were absolutely thrilled when, by chance, it was Robin Stevens and they were able to meet her.”
They added that the event had been a huge success.
“The Robin Stevens event for the release of The Body in the Blitz, the second book in her thrilling new series, The Ministry of Unladylike Activity, was incredible,” they said.
“Robin was delightful with her fans and some of the attendees were unable to contain their excitement – as one little boy jumped up and down with joy whilst meeting her.
“We had customers come from far and wide, with one little girl’s move from India made easier with the promise that she would be meeting her favourite author, Robin Stevens.”
The bookshop is now preparing for an early opening event to celebrate the release of Rebecca Yarros, author of Iron Flame. The store will welcome customers from 8am on Tuesday, November 7, so fans can get stuck in Bea Fitzgerald, Alexandra Christo and Annaliese Avery over breakfast.
Fantasy authors Bea Fitzgerald, Alexandra Christo and Annaliese Avery will visit on Thursday, November 16, for a session that starts at 7pm and celebrates the Girl, Goddess, Queen book in the Dark Mythology series.
And on Saturday, November 18, from 11am, Ladbaby – aka Mark and Roxanne Hoyle – will be signing copies of their festival books based on Greg The Sausage Roll.
