BRIGHTER Futures for Children celebrated Reading’s foster carers at an award ceremony on Thursday, October 20.
More than 70 foster carers attended the event at Brown’s restaurant in The Oracle hosted by Brighter Futures for Children’s independent fostering agency.
Awards were given out to recognise the achievements of new carers who had recently completed their training, as well as those who had completed milestones in their roles.
The accolades were awarded by deputy mayor of Reading, Cllr Debs Edwards.
There were also awards recognising those who had made outstanding contributions to foster care in Reading as nominated by independent reviewing officers and social workers.
Recipients included Sinead Gibson, who marked 15 years of service in fostering, and Sherri and Nigel Ward, who were awarded for their outstanding service.
Maria Young, BFfC Director of Children’s Social Care, who attended the evening said: “It was such a privilege to have so many of our amazing foster carers together to celebrate the wonderful work they do.
“It was incredible to hear their stories and witness the passion they have for caring for our children and young people.
“From foster carers who were just starting out to those who were celebrating 15 years, and others who have made outstanding contributions, they all deserve a massive thank you.”
