THE CANDIDATES for the general election have been finalised.
Nominations closed last Friday, giving the council time to prepare ballot papers ahead of the July 4 vote.
There are three constituencies in this election, caused by boundary changes.
Only in Reading Central is an incumbent standing – in this case, Labour’s Matt Rodda.
Standing in Earley and Woodley are: Alastair Hunter (SDP), Pauline Jorgensen (Conservatives), Tahir Maher (Lib Dem), and Gary Shacklady (Greens).
In Reading Central, there are seven candidates.
Adam Gilman (Trade Union and Socialist Coalition), Dave McElroy (Greens), Matt Rodda (Labour), Raj Singh (Conservatives), Michael Tuberville (Independent), Andy Williams (Reform UK), and Henry Wright (Lib Dems).
The new Reading West and Mid Berkshire seat also has seven candidates, two of whom are independents.
They are: Adrian Abbs (Independent), Olivia Bailey (Labour), Helen Belcher (Lib Dems), Kathrin Bosley (Reform UK), Carolyne Culver (Greens), Ross McKinnon (Conservatives), Adie Peppiatt (Independent).
