Reading Community Learning Centre is a charity that helps ethnic minority women and their families who live in Reading.
They are based in Central Reading, the RCLC has been operating as an independent charity since 2007, and as part of the national charity, Workers’ Education Association, since the mid-1990s.
They are currently looking to recruit a new female Chair to lead their Board of Trustees. The role of the Chair is to lead meetings with the Trustee Board and act as a spokesperson for the charity where needed.
The Chair also provides support to the Centre Manager and acts as a channel of support and communication between the Board and members of staff.
As this is a key role in the organisation they are seeking someone with great communication skills and leadership abilities including motivational skills and being able to work effectively as a member of a team.
Reading Mencap is a local charity that was founded in 1962 with the aim to provide support so that individuals with learning disabilities and their families can lead a full and active life in their community!
They are seeking a Treasurer Trustee.
The role is a volunteer position, responsible for managing Reading Mencap’s finances. Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant as the role involves overseeing the finance function with the preparation of annual financial statements, statutory requirements and monitoring management accounts.
On average, the time commitment will be 20 hours per month and the position requires attendance at bi-monthly meetings.
Previous experience in a similar position, preferably within the voluntary sector, would be brilliant for this role.
Compass Recovery College is a mental health and wellbeing organisation based in Reading that provides free workshops and social groups for anyone in the area aged 18 or over who may be affected directly or indirectly by mental health or wellbeing challenges.
Right now they are seeking a volunteer to help with their Content Creator role. This would include managing their social media channels and contributing towards the development of their website. Suitable volunteers would need to have a good level of IT knowledge and be creative enough to think of ways to drive online engagement around the topic of mental health and wellbeing.
As a Compass Recovery College volunteer you will be given a full induction when you start with support from the staff.
They will also provide further training, such as shadowing days, when possible.
