The Colleton primary school in Twyford has announced the extension of its age range from 4–11 years to 2–11 years, following the successful integration of Little Acorns pre-school, located on the same site..

The decision follows a comprehensive consultation process with parents, staff, and the local community, which concluded in May 2025.

The overwhelming support received during the consultation has affirmed the shared vision for providing high-quality, continuous education from the earliest years through to the end of primary school.

Michelle Law, head teacher at Colleton, said: “This is a hugely exciting step for the Colleton.

“Extending our age range to include children from the age of two allows us to build even stronger foundations for learning, wellbeing, and development.

“We’re delighted to be incorporating Little Acorns children and families into our school community, and share its long-standing commitment to nurturing young children.”

“We’re especially pleased that the highly experienced and much-loved staff team from Little Acorns will remain in place, providing continuity and stability for the children and families.

“Their passion and expertise are a real asset, and they share The Colleton’s values of creativity, individuality, and child-centred learning.”

The newly -integrated early years provision will operate with its own dedicated spaces tailored to the needs of younger children, while enjoying stronger links to the main school curriculum, staff team, and resources.

The move will provide a smooth and secure transition for children as they progress through the early years and into formal schooling.

The Colleton primary school will be hosting an ppen day on Wednesday October 9, at 9.30am where families are warmly invited to visit the school, hear about what makes the Colleton so special, and see learning in action across all age groups.
