A quartet of hairdressers in Reading town centre has applied to supply wine and other alcoholic drinks and play music at their salon.

Bloc Hair, located in Gun Street, was set up by four professional hairdressers and beauticians in 2020.

The salon is situated between the Be at One cocktail bar and the Zerodegrees microbrewery and pizza restaurant.

Its website states: ” We are carving out our future through the people that shape our brand, from the stylist that pulls out your chair, to you recommending your family and friends.

“We adapt to your needs and the ever-changing environment of our industry. Consistently growing and sharing our knowledge with you.

“Our salon is designed to help you relax, unwind and decompress, leaving you looking and feeling your best.

“Whether it’s letting go with an indulgent head massage or enjoying a much-needed catch-up with your stylist.

“The only thing you need to do is turn up and we will take care of the rest.”

The business now wants to serve customers with wine or bubbly to go with their beauty treatment and play music to enhance the atmosphere at the salon.

To supply alcohol and play recorded music, Bloc Hair requires a premises licence from Reading Borough Council.

The business has therefore applied for these activities between 9am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.

A statutory consultation into the application is live. You can respond to it by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.

The deadline for responses is Wednesday, September 10.
