CUSTOMERS in a Tilehurst pub could raise their glasses for longer, if it wins permission to stay open for longer.
The landlords of The Prince in School Road have asked Reading Borough Council to allow it to stay open until midnight on Fridays and Saturday, and open from 10am, rather than 11am.
For alcohol to be sold at these times, it needs a new licence.
The request comes a year after The Prince underwent a £400,000 refurbishment. This included an improved outdoor area and the installation of seven new HD TVs showing sports.
At the time, pub operator Michelle Peterson, said: “The pub has always been at the centre of my community, and I remember coming here with my grandad, Albert, when I was little.
“Now, the new look, extra seating areas and drinks offers will help attract even more customers.”
The Prince is run by the Craft Union pub company, which also runs The Wishing Well in Oxford Road.
Comment on the licensing application can be made by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. These are publicly accessible and must be made by Monday, July 1.
