THREE more people have been arrested following an attempted murder in central Reading.

Four men, aged 27, 28, 34 and 37, all from Reading, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident in St Mary’s Butts in the early hours of the morning of Sunday, August 10.

All three of the further arrests remain in police custody, alongside the 34-year-old who was arrested the same day.

The two remaining victims in hospital have now been discharged, and the scene at St Mary’s Butts was removed this morning.

Lead investigating officer Detective Inspector Beverley Pearse, based at Reading police station, said: “We are continuing to investigate this attempted murder as a top priority, with four more arrests being made so far.

“We are still appealing for help from the public as we believe there may have been numerous witnesses to the incident, including those with mobile phone footage of it and/or the aftermath.

“We have now removed the scene at St Mary’s Butts so normality can resume for the town centre.

Chief Inspector Emma Tompkins said: “We understand that recent events have caused concern among the community and we are working closely with our partners to ensure the town centre remains a safe place for everyone.
