ONE OF the leading hospice charities in the UK has announced it is set to celebrate the first anniversary of its superstore in Reading this week.
Thames Hospice is marking the first year of its superstore on Friday, October 17, with a celebratory event at the store.
The charity will welcome patron Anita Dobson for the event, which will also see upcycling workshops, fashion styling, children;s activities, and free cake and refreshments.
The superstore offers a range of preloved and upcycled furniture, homeware, fashion, books, toys, as well as a cafe and an alterations service for clothing.
Annie Campbell, Interim Retail Director at Thames Hospice said: “We are delighted that Anita Dobson will be joining us to celebrate this exciting milestone.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Reading community for embracing us over the past year.
“Thanks to their support, our store has grown in every way, from sales and donations to volunteering and community engagement.”
“Opening a Superstore of this scale was an ambitious step for us, but the move has opened up incredible opportunities for volunteers and local groups, with space for private hire and delicious in-house catering.”
Thames Hospice celebrates the first anniversary of the superstore at 17 Richfield Avenue, from 10am on Friday, October 17.
Thames Hospice provides complex, specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people with a life-limiting condition aged 16 years and over, as well as vital support for their families.
