Siren RG1 will mark its first anniversary with a weekender celebration.

Starting today and running until Sunday, May 18, RG1 will celebrate an entire year serving the community with a host a host of activities including a Fierce Beer tap takeover, and special offers on food and drink. There will be the return of the RG1 Cheese Eyes Burger and RG1 Loaded Fries – both smothered with Truffle cheese sauce.

Drinks will be covered by Aberdeen-based Fierce Beer. They will have beers on tap all weekend as well as White Sangria’s – Vodka, Nectarine Liqueur, Pino Grigio, Elderflower syrup and Soda blend seamlessly in this ultimate birthday sipper.

Kids eat free all weekend when their accompanying adult buys any burger or two small plates (make sure you book to take up this offer) – while anyone wearing a pink item of clothing will be the recipient of a free half pint of our Gluten Free Lumina Session IPA.

Jade Dawson – Assistant Manager at Siren RG1 said: “The team can’t wait. We’re excited to have our excited to have Fierce beer come for a tap takeover, and it will be nice to have the community come together and celebrate with us.

“Food – we’ve got the return of some old favourites. Our Cheese Eyes burger is back on the menu, we’ve got RG1 loaded fries, kids can eat free all weekend, and then Saturday night we’ve got a DJ!

“Our Friar Street venue is now a hot spot for businesses to meet, craft beer fans to congregate and the odd weary travel to stop off on their journey home. We’ve also managed to build a community around some brilliant sports teams and clubs.

“We’re home to the Reading Renegades rugby team, the Reading Kangeroos AFL side, Berkshire Unicorns. We work closely we Eclectic Games and we’re really lucky to have the Ebb & Flow residents on our doorstep. We’ll soon have the Station Hill development as well. It’s an eclectic mix on any given night!”

“We, we get a lot of trade from people that come here before gigs and events. If there’s an event going on at Sub89, we love to get involved. If it’s a country music event for example, we’ll reflect that in here to surprise the fans.

“But I think it’s great there’s something different on Friar Street. We’re not trying to be a PopWorld or a nightclub. Siren RG1 is about good quality beer, good quality wines, great food and a community atmosphere where people can unwind.

“I’ve been here since the start, it’s been a really good year. Obviously there’s an element of trial and error and continuous improvement. For example, we’ve put in more soundproofing and made menu tweaks based on customer feedback.

“We’ve been lucky that the people have felt like they can offer us feedback, that’s been a real positive of the first year and it means we’re all growing the bar together

“Reading Pride was a real highlight; it was a fun one to be part of. It was great to have our communities in here and party with them!

“Inclusivity is important to Siren as a brand and it’s important to the team. We’ve got a fantastic team here that want everybody to feel included, and Pride was a great representation of that.”
