Reading Today has been shortlisted for a major national journalism award, celebrating the power of local news – and we need your votes!
We’re delighted to have been named as a finalist in Hold The Front Page’s Front Page of the Year Award, placing alongside some of the most respected local and regional titles in the country.
For us at Reading Today, the nomination is a proud moment – and one we want to share with our readers.
The award, run by Hold The Front Page, recognises the best newspaper front pages of the year, judged not just on design but on impact, clarity and the strength of the journalism behind them.
Our shortlisted front page reflects what Reading Today stands for: strong local reporting, clear storytelling and a commitment to covering the issues that matter most to people in Reading.
Our front page reflected a moment of relief and joy for thousands of people who were affected by the sale of Reading Football Club, who were put through years of turmoil and uncertainty under previous owner Dai Yongge.

As a fiercely independent title, this recognition means a great deal. It highlights the importance of local journalism at a time when many communities are losing trusted local voices. Being shortlisted shows that a small, dedicated newsroom can still make a big impact.
But now we need your help.
The winner of Front Page of the Year is decided by a public vote, and we’re encouraging our readers, supporters and everyone who values local news to get behind Reading Today.
Voting is quick, free and makes a real difference. Every vote is a vote for independent local journalism in Reading.
Thank you for reading and supporting Reading Today – and thank you for helping us fly the flag for our town on a national stage!
