Signage for huge 769 flats development near Reading town centre (PL/25/1164)
Berkeley Homes has won permission to advertise flats it has built at the Huntley Wharf development in Kenavon Drive.
The company has branded the flats ‘Reading Riverworks’. As well as an online campaign, it has won permission to install signs, promotional flags and vinyls within the development.
Planning officer Jonathan Markell ruled that the advertising is acceptable and does not present a public nuisance or safety risk.
As well as the flats, a Tesco Express opened there earlier this year.
HMO in East Reading refused (PL/25/1142)
The owner of a terraced house in Wykeham Road has had their plan to convert it into a five bed HMO refused.
The council’s acting director for planning judged that the conversion would provide a poor quality of accommodation for occupiers, failing to meet the required living standards.
It was also rejected over a lack of a management plan for waste disposal, a lack of a communal area and an outdoor amenity space.
Barbers for Kennet Island approved (PL/25/1080)
A barbers company is set to occupy Merrick House, one of the main buildings at Kennet Island.
The company will be situated in Unit 8 of the commercial units provided at Merrick House when it was built.
The barbers will come with serving space, a kitchenette for staff and a toilet.
Vent details for building conversion into five flats approved (PL/25/1386)
Details of the ventilation system for the conversion of 134 Oxford Road into five flats have been approved.
The building used to be rented out as offices, but the owner won permission to convert it into five one-bed flats in June.
The project was granted on the condition that details of the ventilation for the new flats would be provided at a later date.
These details were approved by the council’s planning department on October 14.
